Konsolen News : King of Zelda mods returns for a DS edition
|

We can't say this new DS mod quite gets our hearts racing like the Zelda Wii mod did a couple of months ago, but perhaps that's just because the Phantom Hourglass hasn't hit the DS yet, while Twilight Princess has been epic-ing it up on the Wii since day one.
All the same, this new one from Morpheon Mods features a fancy "Zelda gold" paint job, along with a metal sword and shield backlit by a white LED -- hardly pocketable, but sure is fun to look at. The mod is on sale on eBay now, and 15% of the proceeds go towards the Child's Play charity.

Konsolen News : Sony says PS3 now supports downloaded PSOne games (again)
|
| Geschrieben von Disco_Stu am 04.05.2007 13:55:18 (302 x gelesen) |
|
Sony first touted PS3 support of previously-downloaded PSOne titles when it rolled out its latest firmware update last month, but as many of you are no doubt aware, that desirable feature didn't exactly work as promised.
Well, it looks like Sony has finally managed to get all the kinks worked out, and is now telling folks that the PSOne game they've already downloaded for their PSP will, in fact, work on their PS3 as well. The only catch is that you'll have to re-download them on your PlayStation 3, although Sony thankfully won't charge you again for that additional hassle. As our pals at Joystiq point out, however, the real PSOne-related feature we're waiting for is downloads straight to the PSP (or even by way of a PC), but there's still no word from Sony on that possibility.

Konsolen News : Plezo intros game-emulating PMG-250 handheld
|
| Geschrieben von Disco_Stu am 04.05.2007 13:55:03 (724 x gelesen) |

While it may have trouble prying folks away from their do-it-all GP2Xs, Plezo's new PMG-250 portable media player looks like it could attract the interest of at least a few nostalgic gamers, boasting some game emulation support in addition to the usual audio and video capabilities.
Of course, you'll be somewhat limited in your gaming options, with the NES, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Sega Mega Drive (a.k.a. Genesis) the only consoles supported, although that should still be more than enough to help you re-learn some of those old school skills you may have forgotten. The device itself also looks to be decent enough, with a 2.5-inch LCD, 2GB of internal memory, and an SD slot for some sure-to-be-needed additional expansion. Not surprisingly, this one looks to be exclusive to Korea for the time being, where it'll set you back 169,000 won, or about $180.

Konsolen News : Christmas comes early to 360 Elite owners: free HDD Transfer Kits for all
|
| Geschrieben von Disco_Stu am 03.05.2007 08:29:21 (656 x gelesen) |
|
It looks like Microsoft has decided to return some of its record-breaking profits back to the consumer in the form of a free Xbox 360 Hard Drive Transfer Kit for Elite owners -- although some will look at this gesture as less of a gift (being that it could have just been included in the box with all Elites) and more of a hassle to get a one-time-use product that already comes bundled with the standalone 120GB drive.
Interested parties can grab the necessary form by following the Read link, but you'll need the serial numbers of both 360s to qualify, so if you were just looking for a free cable to tie up your pets or friends, you're out of luck.

Konsolen News : Another third-party Wiimote Blaster hits the scene
|
| Geschrieben von Disco_Stu am 03.05.2007 08:26:21 (721 x gelesen) |
|
The Wiimote blaster love just keeps on comin', as cranking out third-party steering wheels, Wii Sports apparatuses, and full-fledged Link suits apparently isn't good enough. We all know the Zapper holds a dear place in most every gamer's heart, and judging by the variety set to be released for the Wii, accessory manufacturers are keenly aware.
The latest Wii gun has popped up at GameStop, and aside from a smallish photograph and "Core Gamer" listed as the developer, we're not too sure about anything else. Of course, there's not too much to understand about how this here device will eventually work, but on or around June 26th, you can plop down your $19.99 and find out once and for all.
